I'll be repainting a piece of furniture we acquired for free for the kitchen, so I'm saving this how-to:

The Wind and the Tides
Fickle blows the wind of my willingness to share with the outside world the goings on of my little life. My little insignificant blogs have served in the stead of mass emails to family, which I ever forget to finish, and therefore to send, but with advent of facebook and instanteous uploading from cameras, my blog has languished and the beloved friends I have made over the years on the interwebs are left with snippets of this and that as I remember to post them. I think I am pretty much leaving the non-sequited, mostly because it is such a chore to remember to SIGN IN and FIND PICTURES and WRITE text, when it is all so readily available at the facebook locale. (erin at t-tine.com. PLEASE friend me, if you are a loyal reader. it's so nice to make friends!)
On the other hand, much of my personal leanings I dare not reveal on Facebook. They are eternally changing their privacy policies, and I am ever in a dither as to whether the pictures of MAH PRESHUS BAYBEE are being sold to the highest bidder for the purposes of the next Ritz commercial, or something.
So. the only solution is to start fresh. Thank Heaven (and the internet), that blogspots are temporal. I just had a conversation with a friend wherein she expressed the desire for not-permanent, yet, long-lasting tatoos. She said she thought "ten years" was ideal. I don't know about that. I *still* hanker after the tattoo I wanted eleven years ago, but there's no accounting for taste! All that said, as I entertained the idea to retire the immaterial ramblings, I thought long and hard about what interests me. Other than my husband, and my adorable child, I believe that the practice of birthing babies and the politics surrounding is hold my interest most exclusively, at the moment. So I've decided to focus mostly on that subject, and I feel I should start fresh. I will miss you here, but I hope to see you at:

Because I don't know how to work the bookmark feature on my Mac. And I don't even know if there IS a bookmark feature on my Mac. (The lack of a right click option is, in itself, driving me insane.)

Birthright
Eddie turns nine months old today. Yesterday we were at Grandma's house and it was time to put on The Suit and take The Photo.
When Matt was born, this suit was a gift from a friend. His parents dressed him in it and took a picture to send to the friend, since it was January, and the suit was short, so Matt was going to grow out of it by the summertime. I don't know exactly how the idea of taking a photo of each baby wearing The Suit evolved, but there are now five 8x11 portraits of Papa and all Eddie's uncles wearing The Suit gracing the living room wall at Grandma and Grandpa T's. There is also a portrait of Eddie's cousin wearing The Suit at about six months. Soon, there will be one of Eddie at nine months, wearing The Suit and trying to give Mama a heart attack by rocking out of the little chair on the cement patio in Grandma's backyard.

Nobody Knows The Trouble I've Seen
This little exchange popped into my head again, and I'd like to put it down so we don't forget it again!
Matt and I had some friends over for dinner, and they brought their fifteen year old son with them. It turns out that his birth was also natural and unmedicated and LONG, so the wife and I were comparing stories and contrasting the home experience with the hospital, and then she said that after the baby had been born, there was nowhere for her husband to sleep, so he ended up spending the night in a recliner in the hospital room (at least if reclined! :P). He chimed in, mournfully, "It was really uncomfortable...and I was SO tired." I replied as drily as I could, "Oh, my heart just BLEEDS for you." :D

Beach Babies...
I took Eddie to the beach on Tuesday with a friend and her baby> It was a lovely day, sunny and warm, with no wind, which made the chilly water inviting, and, if I'd had someone to hold Eddie for me, I probably would have gone swimming. (As it was, I walked in up to my waist, holding Eddie, and pointing out the seals to him. The waves put him to sleep and he slept for three hours. Score!) We had such a good time that we decided to take Papa on Saturday.

Well, the beach was sandy, and that's about all that was the same as Tuesday! Windy, cool, the water was FREEZING, and half the population of the Central VALLEY had driven in for the weekend to meet the other half! :P Eddie had fun, anyway, playing in the sand and napping in the shade. He pooped out just as it was warming up, around 2 p.m, so next time we will plan to arrive later in the day...and maybe on a weekday, instead!
